This 6-page paper argues that judicial review per se does not interfere with democratic principles, but the framework in which it operates allows it to circumvent some elements of parliamentary democracy. The conflicts between judicial review and parliamentary process occurs first, due to the federalism maintained by majoritarian politics" second, due to contending interests of pressure groups, and finally, due to the fact that judges of the courts are not elected and hence not accountable.
