This paper is a review of an exhibit at the Fowler Museum at UCLA entitled "Ceramic Trees of Life: Popular Art from Mexico," an exhibitoin of ceramic figures simialr to trees, with a votive for devotional candles, produced to this day in Mexico, and perhaps a response to the Spanish Conquest by mixing Christian elements with the colors of mexican art and with symbolism from the Mexican experience.
