This paper discusses Picasso's cubist masterpiece, Guernica. Painted as a mural for the Spanish Pavilion of the 1937 World's Fair in Paris, Guernica at its most basic level represents the monstrosities of war. But there is nothing basic about this painting. One could literally spend hours lost in its haunting images and hidden meanings. But without looking too deeply, one can see clearly the message that Picasso was trying to convey.
