The Changing Status of Chinese Women in Modern Times
This five-page undergraduate paper examines the changing status of Chinese women in modern times. The author notes that despite the lingering resistance of Chinese men to accept women as equals, the trend towards fuller equality for women in China is unmistakable and irreversible. With the exception of some Islamic states, no nation in the history has ever begun to emancipate women and then halted the process, for once women are able to prove themselves as vital and valuable partners in society, politics, the family, and the economy, the overwhelming majority of men ultimately recognize their abilities and can no longer even imagine turning back the clock and restricting women within the old confines of marriage and motherhood.
