This paper is written about Clara Wieck. Her considerable concert career can be divided into three parts: between the years 1828 to 1840, she performed first as a child prodigy and soon after as an international celebrity. This kicked off the next period of her career, 1840 to 1854, in which she continued a grueling touring schedule despite giving birth to and raising eight children during that span, as well as dealing with the failing mental health of her husband. During that third phase of her career, Clara Schumann traveled the world, playing to audiences who had widely come to regard her as one of the top pianists in the world.
