This paper will seek to review the book Ishmael by Daniel Quinn. By understanding the philosophical elements of the book in this analysis, we can see how Ishmael seems to represent a Socratic figure, and how the gorilla in the tale, can reflect a traditional view of how the Bible may be seen in this light. By arguing for the Socratic element in the book, we can see how Quinn succeeds at creating this type of idea throughout his story, and in his interpretation of the Bible. 6-pages, no bibliography.
