Summary: The purpose of this thesis is to present the timeline of events spanning 100 years of invention and innovation of air conditioning. Beginning with Dr Willis Carrier, who left behind a legacy of milestones with the introduction of air conditioning system, stemming to today's complexities due to global recession, markets' differentiation, strategic alliances, channels' globalization, ever-changing market trends and profits minimization. Conclusions will be finally made on how all the above mentioned problems can be overcome and how the field can return to a profitable situation by assuring the indoor comfort to the end consumer and the environment protection to the future generations.
