This paper examines the standards that are used to determine the role of a self- directed workforce, where those that are employed on staff are typically able to direct their own progress in the workplace environment. This paper compares and contrasts the traditional model of management- directed workforces against the new model of self- directed workforces, especially in respect to those individuals that are most likely to work best under self- directed management.
