This paper examines the distribution of wealth in Canada West (Ontario) over the last half of the nineteenth century. It examines income, income distribution, and equality. Evidence indicates that inequality increased throughout the period. A significant section is also dedicated to the question of women, income and wealth, concluding that they were one of the poorest segments of the population, particularly widow. 15 pgs.
