Marriage is a basic ritual in all societies and it evolves as society evolves.
This paper is a collection of lessons for a Canadian sociology course. The first part of the paper addresses a variety of issues relating to marriage contracts, family law, spousal abuse, and racism in Canadian contexts. The next part of this paper contains the results of a brief summary that describes how three married couples have responded to having a baby, and how a baby has changed their domestic life.
