Friedrich August Kelule Who was Friedrich Kelule? Chemist believed that the structure of molecules was unstable because reactions could disturb them. Kekule thought about the structure of benzene and one night had a dream about snakes. The snakes chased one another and one put his tail in its mouth. This Kekule believed to be a chain of 6 carbon atoms arranged in a ring. He believed that was the answer to the problem. Benzene is a 6carbon ringed compound with 6 hydrogen atoms.
