This paper discusses domestic violence and the family. Domestic violence has been defined as the chronic abuse of power between persons who share a household, usually a family. The abuse may be emotional, mental or physical and done through intentional threats, intimidation and/or physical violence (Newton 2001). Oftentimes, the abuser is the husband and the victim is the wife. Or else, the abuser is a parent or parents, and the victims, the children" the ex-husband and the ex-wife" boyfriend-girlfriend" older sibling-younger siblings" a son or daughter, and a parent. The list goes on.
