Exiting Rate of Learning Disabled and Children in Special Education
This paper discusses the statistics of 5 out of every 100 students over the age of 16 who were enrolled in high school in any of the past 10 years dropped out prior to completing a high school program. The paper asks the question: What does this say about special education, specifically programs designed for the learning disabled? Few special education students are exited back to regular education classes. This paper compares the rate of learning disabled to other disabilities, research shows that fewer learning disabled students are exited back to their regular education classes than other types of disabilities and many of these learning disabled students drop-out of high school.
