This paper examines the use of technology in language instruction and asks how technology enhances the process, using as a model the issue integrating self-paced learning applications and textbook-based instruction into Spanish language education at the secondary level, with the intention of identifying and assessing the combinations of self-paced learning applications and textbook-based instruction that will fulfill curriculum standards for Spanish language instruction at the secondary education level.
