The Importance of Safety in the Construction Industry
In this paper, we will examine the importance of safety in the construction industry. Since it has been shown that one in five deaths that occur each year on the job are in construction, it is crucial to the safety of our workers that we do more to protect them. One of the things we can do is educate, not only workers on safe practices, but also set guidelines for the people in charge. In this paper, first we will examine who is responsible for the safety of the workers, by first looking at the responsibility of the General Contractor, and then we will examine how the responsibility can be successfully and appropriately delegated to the Sub-contractor. After this discussion, we will examine some specific issues in construction safety.
