Loss of life, destruction, and bitterness after World War I left most countries unable to return to a normal existence and damaged the world economy. Each of the victors had their own agenda when the treaty was signed, some seeking revenge against and repayment from Germany. While there were certainly missed opportunities for peace, the victors' lack of a single strategy and using the wrong tactics in trying to avoid a subsequent similar conflict allowed Hitler to become powerful and start World War II. This paper traces the signing of the treaty, conditions after the war, and how those conditions led to the outbreak of World War II. 6.5 pgs. 0 f/c. 0b.
