This paper will examine the role of sociology within the film The Wizard of Oz by Victor Fleming. By examining the director's point of view of social issues in the nineteen thirties, we can understand why The Wizard of Oz takes on greater meaning by symbolic and filming narrative techniques. Also, we can make comparisons to the original story written by Frank Baum in relation to social themes.
