An Analysis of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight: A Case for the Medieval Romance Poem in Fourteenth Century Great Britain
This paper will seek to understand the qualities of a medieval romance poem in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. By observing the literary devices, moral applications, and religious symbols within this poem, we can see that this poem is more influenced by French chivalric poems, rather than a Christian dominated theme. This is how we can assess this poem, marking it more a poem of the "continent", and not solely English in ecclesiastical nature.
