This paper will discuss the poem Richard Corey, and seek to understand where in the poem the notion of suicide comes into play. By understanding the ideas that surround the good natured and almost pure sense of the main character, we can find the dark undertones that arise to this tragic ending. The reason why Richard Corey killed himself was because he was an isolated wealthy man who had no friends, especially in the townspeople he visited. In essence, isolation killed Richard Corey.
