This paper will seek to understand how the characterization, plot, and conflict buildings techniques used within De Mortuis by John Collier. By understanding the rash decisions of Buck and Bud in this tale, we can seek to understand why they make incorrect judgments against Dr. Rankin. They assume he has killed his wife, and much of this short story focuses around Buck and Bud's poor judgment by accusing the Doctor of this heinous act.
