It's not an easy feat, translating Shakespeare from play to film, but many have tried. While many of Shakespeare's works have been translated to film, this paper will concentrate on Romeo and Juliet. Moreover, to make a silent movie based on the work of England's greatest poet-dramatist seemed so crazy that filmmakers. The process of messing with musical accompaniments, sound effects, phonographs, intertitles, and supplementary lecturers seem overwhelming to the film industry of this time.
