This essay discusses Sophocles' "Oedipus Rex" and its irony. We see that the play is very ironic in that it capsulizes the theme of free will and predestination. Even though we are sickened at the tragic life of Oedipus and the other characters, we are still able to appreciate the ironic characteristics of the play itself. Indeed, we see that man is free, and yet he is fated. 3 pgs. No sources listed.
