Freedom is a value that many men will lay their lives down for others to have. From the beginning of time freedom has played an important part in the lives of men. Freedom was considered important in Kant's philosophies. Kant believed that the failure of transcendent metaphysics allowed for the possibility of freedom. This is important part of Kant's ethics. What may be overlooked by those studying Kant's philosophy is that his contradiction arises out of our idea of the world. This corresponds directly to the metaphysical idea of freedom. He devotes the third antinomy (Kt1:472-9) to the issue as the causality of nation and causality of freedom. Kant believed in the importance of freedom for others. What is science without freedom?
