Abstract: This essay will examine Chapter V of Locke's Second Treatise Concerning Civil Government in order to explore the development of his argument on private property. In this context, I will establish Locke's argument on private property and, from this, show how Locke's position can have potentially imperialistic consequences on the relationship between the individual and the commonwealth.
