This paper will discuss the book Modern Tyrants by Daniel Chirot, and will identify his main themes for tyranny in the modern age of governing in small nation-states. By developing ideas of the old fashioned tyrant, with the newer ideological tyrants in his book, we can see how tyranny exists in today's world, but on a much smaller scale in Chirot's views.
