This ten-page undergraduate paper examines the history and political development of Sudan. The author notes that the Sudanese people have experienced disunity because of the Arab heritage of some of the population and the African heritage of other segments of the population. These two groups have been divided for centuries by race, language, religion, and economics, and these lingering divisions have repeatedly generated ethnic tensions, civil disturbances, and rebellions. Subsequently, Sudan’s government structure has been negatively affected by disunity and ineffectiveness.
