The phrase "terrorism" can be seen, read or heard today just about everyplace in media, regardless of whether international or local, ready to be listened to by news consumers. It also lies in wait of numerous writer or editor working in an international political panorama reversed by the September 11 attacks in the United States. The word terrorism both its technical meaning and the political baggage that comes with it is an editorial minefield for journalists, various of whom are trying to find their way to impartial, perceptive reporting in a world that, shaken by events like that of September 11, are increasingly dictated to by the language and representation of terrorism.
