This paper describes an approach to mathematical modeling to solve produciton problems in the processing of clay for a company, noting how the continuous improvement team started exploring the use of mathematical programming for clay process planning based on past experience with such models and with the knowledge that this was worth exploring because this method had produced favorable results for others in the past.
