This paper discusses the necessity of developing techniques to guarantee the quality of service (QoS) requirements for multimedia traffic, acknowledging that QoS support in ad hoc networks requires interaction among three functions: routing, mobility management, and medium access control. The paper proposes research questions for analyzing these issues and for determing the cost-effectiveness and technical feasibility of different proposals.
