This paper will discuss the book Learning to Labor by Paul Willis and seek to identify its source of understanding in this field. By analyzing a note that is left behind at the end of the tale, we can see how the connected qualities of social displacement occur in the text of the story, as well as in the ideas about social class structure that abound within the book. His association of the place of learning in a school tells us that it happens when people are very young and the idea that little notes reflect, in even the smallest way, the idea of class structure that we all live in. 4 pgs.
