Crime, Mental Illness, Treatment and Social Perspectives.
This paper discusses the significant relationship that exists between crime and mental illness. People who have been hospitalized in psychiatric hospitals have larger rates of eventual imprisonment than average citizens. The mental state of a criminal, however, is considered by the courts. There is a problem, however, in that medical professionals medicate someone too quickly that they label mentally ill. This phenomenon is inter-related with how society and the media stigmatize the disabled. 6 pgs. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
