This paper examines several of the leading theories on cultural and social violence in respect to race and gender. Within the United States, examples of violence are seen to differ between regions and among specific social groups, suggesting that the manifestation of violence is different due to various social factors. Examples of violence can therefore be seen to correspond to specific factors, suggesting that these factors are a large part of the expression of violence. A review of three books is provided. 6 pgs.
