This 5-page graduate paper examines eating habits of the elderly
by outlining a study, which includes a one page introduction
and review of literature, a one page description of accurate
data collection, a one page data report, a one page report format,
and a one page conclusion and results discussion. This paper
outlines a study which surveys, interviews, and develops the
eating menus of a sample group of individuals 60 years of age
or older. The study aims to uncover the factors behind poor
eating habits among the elderly. Results suggest that most of
the participants do have poor eating habits, with men seeming
more vulnerable to nutrient-poor foods and excess eating, and
women seeming more prone to inadequate nutrition intake. In
both cases, illness seems a leading cause of poor nutrition
habits, especially as it leads to a poor sense of well-being
and decreased mobility. Education and budget seem to have a
less important impact on dietary habits among the elderly, as
most participants of the study seemed secure in their food resources
and seemed to have a good grasp of basic nutritional concepts
such as food groups and the importance of food variety, even
if their food choices showed little inclination to apply this
knowledge.

20421 Factors
Affecting Human Body Weight
This paper discusses the problems with overweight and obesity.
Americans are grossly overweight. This is causing not only American
adults to be obese, but also the children. Three factors in
obesity are food calories, exercise, and genetics. Genetics
is only a problem if the individual allows it to be. The best
steps to preventing obesity is to count the calories and exercise
regularly.

21290 The Relationship
Between Food Habits, Attitudes, Nutritional Information, and
Obesity among Female College Students in Kuwait: Literature
Review and Methodology
This 5-page graduate paper provides a literature review and
methodology for a research project regarding the connection
between nutritional knowledge, attitudes, and behaviours of
Kuwaiti female college students in relation to obesity. This
paper suggests that current literature about this subject suggests
that individuals in Kuwait and other Gulf countries have been
facing increasing rates of obesity, possibly because increased
prosperity and modernization have contributed to lifestyles
that contribute to obesity. Some researchers have suggested
that nutrition habits and attitudes about food develop during
the college years. Thus, a number of recent projects have stressed
rated of obesity among Kuwaiti college students. Some researchers
have been exploring rates of obesity among female college students,
who are more affected by changing perceptions of body image
and are more inclined to respond to food and diet in an emotional
manner. Despite this trend in recent literature, more research
needs to be done regarding the impact of female Kuwaiti college
students’ nutritional knowledge, altitudes and habits on obesity
rates. Studies currently remain inconclusive regarding the amount
of knowledge these students possess about obesity. The link
between these students’ nutritional attitudes and food behaviours
also remains undefined. For this reason, this paper proposes
a three-month questionnaire-based research study which shall
question female students at Kuwait’s Public Authority for Applied
Training and Education regarding their awareness of fundamental
aspects of obesity and nutrition. The study will also aim to
uncover attitudes regarding obesity. Finally, the study will
aim to uncover any connections which appear between these stated
attitudes and knowledge and actual behaviours towards obesity.
