Aldo Leopold, a renowned conservationist and environmentalist, is widely acknowledged as the father of wildlife conservation in America. He was an internationally recognized author and scientist, best known for his books, ?A Sand County Almanac,? and ?Game Management.? He wrote more than 350 articles on scientific and policy issues and was an advisor on global conservation issues to the United Nations. Aldo Leopold was born in Burlington, Iowa, on January 11, 1887. His lifelong interest in ornithology and natural history led him to enroll and graduate, in 1909, with a master?s degree from the Yale forestry school, the United States? first graduate school of forestry.
