One reason for an instructor to ask students to make a cheat sheet is it actually helps the student to see and understand the material that has been discussed.

CliffsNotes.com is a website designed to offer students quality information on literature or other school-related issues. Quick Reviews are designed to help students in subjects such as biology or chemistry. Spark Notes has over 1.75 million books in print for students to access. SparkNotes.com boasts that they have a number of E-texts and free study guides on the Internet that has been written by Harvard students and teachers.

SparkNotes.com is owned by Barnes & Noble. Another similar site is the FreeBooknotes.com with over 1600 books. They boast that they have a comprehensive guide to free book summaries, literature notes, and study guides. Another popular site for students who needs a little extra help is the PinkMonkey.com with 383 book notes, literature summaries, and chapter notes. Many of these types of websites exist on the Internet to help students.

The main purpose of these sites is designed to help students understand the topic or book they are studying. The summaries break down the text to help a student to comprehend the text of the book better than before. Most of these websites will say that copying any of their information is plagiarism. They must be listed as a source if their information is used.
